President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Sunday hoisted the national flag at an Independence Day function at the Convention Center in Islamabad.
President Mamnoon Hussain, who was the chief guest on the occasion along with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, hoisted the national flag. The federal ministers and services chiefs attended the ceremony.
While addressing the ceremony, President Mamnoon Hussain said that the nation would exact revenge for every single drop of blood of people killed by terrorists.
He said that Pakistan’s future is in a strong democracy which would ensure progress, prosperity and development of the country.
He said that in the war against terrorism the entire nation is standing side by side with the armed forces.
“Our hearts are sad over the Quetta incident,” said President Mamnoon Hussain. He said the blood of the martyrs of Quetta will not go waste. He said that the families bereaved by the Quetta incident should not consider themselves alone.
He also said that the ongoing Operation Zarb-i-Azb is in its last stage, adding that the results of the military operation are encouraging under the National Action Plan (NAP).
The president said, “We should not forget our Kashmiri brothers on the Independence Day. Our political, moral and diplomatic support will continue for the people of Kashmir.”
He said every visible and invisible enemy will be chased out and crushed in order to establish durable peace in the country.
He said that national unity, democracy, and strong defence will lead to progress and stability in the country. He said the nation is standing by the armed forces in the ongoing war on terror and it pays tribute to their services.
The President said a national agenda will have to be pursued for improving law and order situation and maintaining economic stability.
He said the government has achieved successes in respect of security situation, economy, and development, and will continue its journey of progress and prosperity.
The President said the passion of Pakistan Movement could help deal with the prevalent challenges successfully.
He said the words of the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah are the pearls of wisdom.
Equality, fraternity, provision of basic rights, a society free from religious, ethnic, and racial differences, and independent foreign policy are the key principles for achieving prominence among the comity of nations, he said. -Business Recorder
