QUETTA: In an early morning suicide attack on Monday inside Quetta’s Civil Hospital, at least 71 people were killed including Aaj News’ cameraman Shahzad Khan while more than 150 were injured.
Shahzad Khan 30 was working as a cameraman for Aaj News for seven years. He was a tireless worker on the front line of one of Pakistan’s most hostile environments. His colleagues remember him as a good humored and friendly person who was always on the job and available to all his colleagues in times of need.
The suicide attack took place when the president of Quetta Bar Association, Anwar Kansi, injured in an earlier targeted attack, was taken to hospital for medical treatment. A large number of lawyers and media men were gathered at the hospital to cover the event when the suicide bomber hit. Police said that unknown men also opened fire after the blast.
Shahzad Khan’s body was taken to his native town of Mastung for burial. He leaves behind a widow and three children.
