National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that no proposal under consideration to replace Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
While talking to Parliamentary reporters on Thursday, the Speaker said there is no discussion regarding appointment of country’s acting premier, “including Ayaz Sadiq himself, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar or Finance Minister Ishaq Dar”.
“There is no space of an acting prime minister nor is there any replacement of the prime minister on the cards. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is our leader,” he said. He said there is no provision of a deputy prime minister in the Constitution. He said that Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had become a deputy prime minister through an executive order.
About the drone attacks, he said that Parliamentarians would have to show a joint stance and raise the issue on diplomatic forum. He said an adjournment motion regarding drone attacks should be discussed in a joint meeting of relating Standing Committees of the National Assembly and Senate and Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz should be present in the meeting.
Talking about Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Shiekh Rasheed, he said that the Sheikh always wanted to grab attention. “Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) fourth wicket would never fall,” he said, underscoring the need of resolution of offshore companies and related issues through a legislation.
The Speaker, during a informal chat, also said that he rejected the recommendation of the prime minister’s son-in-law MNA Capt Muhammad Safdar (retd) on appointment of joint secretary.
