Finance Minister Ishaq Dar Wednesday said that no fresh census in the country would be possible till the completion of the operation Zarb-e-Azb, which is in a final phase.
“As our forces are involved in operations and to ensure its integrity and transparency armed forces” involvement is required as per plan,” said minister while talking to media persons here on Wednesday.
“The government is not going for launch Sukkuk in international market as alternative arrangements have been made and getting it at 4 to 5 percent and would not go for expensive upto 7 percent,” said the Minister.
He said after stabilising the economy, during past three years, the government would now focus on the growth of the national economy for the socio-economic prosperity of the country.
Dar said that focus in the budget would be on agriculture and five export oriented sectors for strengthening the economy besides steps would be taken for reducing Current Account Deficit (CAD).
The country was running with a 3 to 3.8 percent growth, while revenue targets, which were not revised downward for the first time during the last several decades, were achieved.
Impediments to growth, especially those relating to the agriculture sector, have been identified. The minister further said that some measures have been taken for increasing exports while some more steps would be taken in the upcoming budget.
The government would develop a mechanism to clear pending rebate of exporters by August 15, and after that they would not have to wait on average of more than 60 days.
The Minister said budget for the next fiscal year will be presented in the Parliament on Friday. He said the decision to increase salaries of the government employees will be taken by the concerned committee. –Business Recorder
