Torkham incident: Pakistan Amry major succumbs to injuries

WEB DESK: Major Ali Jawad Changezi of Pakistan Army, who was injured in unprovoked firing by Afghan forces in Torkham yesterday, has succumbed to his injuries.

Three army personnel were injured in the firing from across the border.

In their separate condolence messages, President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have expressed sympathies with the bereaved family of Major Changezi Shaheed.

The two leaders paid great homage to the shaheed for sacrificing life for the country.

The Prime Minister said Changezi Shaheed became a victim of Afghan forces’ aggression while guarding the motherland.

Pakistani and Afghan soldiers clashed at the main border crossing at the end of the Khyber Pass. Both countries blamed each other for starting the fighting, which broke out at roughly 9 p.m. local time on Sunday and continued into the night.
