KPK: Joint opposition condemns baton charge on nurses

PESHAWAR: Parliamentarians of Joint Opposition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Saturday strongly criticized the ‘violence’ of KP police against protesting nurses and demanded early release of arrested.

Addressing a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, Parliamentary leader of Awami National Party Sardar Hussain Babak, MPA Nighat Orakzai of PPP and Provincial Information Secretary of JUIF Jalil Jan said “we condemn that baton charge and acts of violence against peaceful Nurses of Hayat Abad Medical Complex.”

They said that every citizen has a right to raise voice its concerns but ‘brutality’ of KP police against nurses was unjustified and against tradition of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

They said that KP government has failed and it must accept its failure adding it has forced people to take streets for pressing their legal demands.

“There is no capacity in KP jails to arrest all protesters while everyone including Professors, Teachers, Doctors, Nurses, representatives of Local Government are protesting against the attitude of provincial government.”

“The government machinery was being run by bureaucracy and police who are unaware of the traditions of KP province.”

They demanded PTI-Led provincial government to early release the arrested people and tackle the issue with dialogue otherwise the parliamentarians would come on roads against KP government.-APP
