CPEC: COAS says he is aware of challenges

WEB DESK: Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif presided over a day-long Formation Commanders’ Conference at the GHQ on Thursday which was attended by the Corps Commanders, Principal Staff Officers and all Formation Commanders.

The participants were given comprehensive briefing on prevailing internal and external security situation of the country. Participants also held exhaustive discussion on professional matters.

The Chief of Army Staff in his address expressed his views on multiple and complicated challenges faced by Pakistan and said that Pakistani nation had been victim of terrorism for over a decade and sacrificed a lot, “but thanks God, we have turned the tide primarily due to resilience displayed by the whole nation and professionalism of our armed forces.”

Acknowledging the contributions made by officers and men towards making Operation Zarb-e-Azb a success and that was now successfully transiting into final phases, he said that Pakistan Army would always come up to the expectations of entire Pakistani nation.

Expressing satisfaction on the pace of return of the Tribal Displaced People (TDPs), the COAS paid tributes to valiant tribes for their unwavering support in fight against terrorism and emphasised on the quality and speed of rehabilitation and resettlement work in the FATA for their dignified and timely return.

COAS vowed that we were aware of all hostility being perpetrated against the upcoming China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which promised to transform the lives of people of Pakistan. We are ready to pay any price to turn this long-cherished dream into reality, he said.-PR
