Civil, Military leadership vows to protect national interest

RAWALPINDI: The civil and military leadership vows to protect core national interests by forestalling all rival forces.

The resolve was expressed at a high level meeting held in Rawalpindi on Tuesday to discuss issues related to national security.

According to the reports, the meeting was attended by Chief of army staff General Raheel Sharif and director general ISI and other senior military officials.

The meeting was also attended by Federal Ministers Khawaja Asif, Ishaq Dar, Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, Adviser on National Security Lt General (RTD) Nasir Janjua and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad.

The meeting expressed satisfaction on the successes of operation Zarb-e-Azb.

Leader ship agreed to achieve stability in the country at all costs.

Reaffirming commitment to enduring regional peace, it was underlined that hostile intelligence agencies and their facilitators will not be allowed to foment trouble inside Pakistan.

The meeting also expressed concern on US drone strike in Balochistan calling it a clear violation of Pakistan’s sovereignty affecting mutual trust and undermining the spirit of Afghan Peace Process under mutually agreed Quadrilateral framework.- RadioPakistan
