Six officers convicted after inquiry: DG ISPR


RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen. Asim Saleem Bajwa confirmed that the military has taken action against six senior officers in the same case after proper inquiry, Aaj News reported.

“Action against corruption in entire Army will continue and six officers have been convicted after they found guilty,” Bajwa said in an interview.

He said the decision has been hailed in army also and cleaning and conviction process will continue in the institution.

The DG ISPR said a country wide large scale combing operation, as part of operation Zarb-e-Azb, would be initiated soon against terrorists to purge the country from terrorists’ safe havens.

He said eleven Military Courts have so far disposed of 88 cases out of a total of 207 cases while various cases are near conclusion.

Responding to a question, he said twenty-five miles areas have already been cleared from ‘Chotu Gang’ in South Punjab.

General Asim Saleem Bajwa said the return of Temporarily Displaced Persons would be completed by the end of this year. He said the operation in almost all areas of Federally Administered Tribal Areas has been completed.
