WEB DESK: Mother’s Day is just a day apart, and it is time to make all the mommies feel really special. The best thing you can do is spend some quality time with them. Maybe make their favorite meal, gift them a bouquet or something she likes.
One of the best way to spend Mother’s Day is giving your mum the affection she deserves. All she want from her children is the time. So spending time may be the best gift.
Watching one of her favorite movies maybe a good idea. However, if you need help, here are few recommendations.
1. KABHI KHUSHI KABHI GHAM
Talk about family morals, values and love, Karan Johar is the man! Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham is a perfect movie to watch on Mother’s Day with your beloved mother.
2. ENGLISH VINGLISH
English Vinglish is a 2012 Indian comedy-drama film, written and directed by Gauri Shinde. The film’s narrative revolves around a housewife who enrolls in an English-speaking course to stop her husband and daughter mocking her lack of English skills and gains self-respect in the process.
‘Kahaani’ is a thriller – but it explores the themes of feminism and motherhood in a way never done before in Bollywood. A mother sets out to avenge the death of her husband and her stillborn child in the background of Durga Puja in Kolkata.
With the ‘dhak’ of Mother Durga resounding in the background, Vidya Balan stands vindicated.
4. MOTHER INDIA
One of the biggest all-time blockbusters from the 50s, ‘Mother India’ is a stark film after ‘Freaky Friday’. It tells the story of a poverty-stricken single mother in rural India who battles all odds to raise her sons, battling it out against an evil moneylender.
Setting ideal examples for an Indian woman, the climax sees her killing her criminal son for the greater good.
This 2003 flick was not one of the best performing movies at the box-office. However, the bitter-sweet relationship between mother Shabana Azmi and daughter Urmila Matondkar was poignantly portrayed, and both won much accolades from critics.
With both persons being individually strong-minded about their values – even blood ties can sometimes be stretched thin. And ‘Tehzeeb’ explores that beautifully.
6. THE BLIND SIDE
The Blind Side is a true story. Truly inspirational and brilliantly plotted, the movie revolves around an African American who is adopted by parents so loving and caring, that his life is turned around.
This is a must watch for this special day as it portrays the true profile of any mother.
