WEB DESK: Mother’s Day is just a day apart, and it is time to make all the mommies feel really special. The best thing you can do is spend some quality time with them. Maybe make their favorite meal, gift them a bouquet or something she likes.

One of the best way to spend Mother’s Day is giving your mum the affection she deserves. All she want from her children is the time. So spending time may be the best gift.

Watching one of her favorite movies maybe a good idea. However, if you need help, here are few recommendations.

‘Kahaani’ is a thriller – but it explores the themes of feminism and motherhood in a way never done before in Bollywood. A mother sets out to avenge the death of her husband and her stillborn child in the background of Durga Puja in Kolkata.

With the ‘dhak’ of Mother Durga resounding in the background, Vidya Balan stands vindicated.

4. MOTHER INDIA

One of the biggest all-time blockbusters from the 50s, ‘Mother India’ is a stark film after ‘Freaky Friday’. It tells the story of a poverty-stricken single mother in rural India who battles all odds to raise her sons, battling it out against an evil moneylender.

Setting ideal examples for an Indian woman, the climax sees her killing her criminal son for the greater good.

5. TEHZEEB

This 2003 flick was not one of the best performing movies at the box-office. However, the bitter-sweet relationship between mother Shabana Azmi and daughter Urmila Matondkar was poignantly portrayed, and both won much accolades from critics.

With both persons being individually strong-minded about their values – even blood ties can sometimes be stretched thin. And ‘Tehzeeb’ explores that beautifully.

6. THE BLIND SIDE
