WEB DESK: Pakistan on Wednesday ‘deeply’ appreciated the successful efforts of Afghan National Army and the Nato forces in recovering Ali Haider Gilani, the son of former premier Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani who returned back to home after three years in captivity of his captors in Afghanistan.
“The leadership of Pakistan have deeply appreciated the successful efforts of Afghanistan National Army and Nato forces in recovering Gilani safely and arrangements for his immediate return to Pakistan,” Foreign Office said in a statement.
“Pakistan hopes that the three countries can work together to decrease and eliminate terrorism from the region. Terrorists cannot be allowed to hold governments hostage,” it further said.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Ambassador in Kabul Abrar Hussain received Ali Haider Gilani at the Afghan Ministry of Defence around 10am from the Afghan Authorities. Thereafter, they were taken to the Airport by a helicopter for onward travel to Lahore on the Prime Minister’s special aircraft.
