Opposition agrees on ToRs for Panama leaks probe

ISLAMABAD: The combined opposition have finalised their own Terms of References (ToRs) for the proposed judicial commission which will investigate allegations thrown by the Panama Papers.
Joint session of the nine opposition parties was held here on Tuesday at PPP stalwart Aitzaz Ahsan’s residence to discuss different proposals for the ToRs.
At the end of the two days consultation process, leader of the opposition in the Senate Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan told reporters that the opposition failed to evolve consensus over demand for resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
However, he said, the opposition wants the judicial commission to start its working by first investigating allegations against the ruling family.
While rejecting the ToRs set by the government, Ahsan said that a special act should be drafted for the proposed judicial commission.
The opposition also proposed that proceedings and findings of the commission should be made public.
Sheikh Rasheed said that six parties have agreed to demand resignation from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
According to Rasheed, ANP and Qaumi Watan Party have opposed the demand.
