Imran criticises PM’s decision

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Monday said the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s decision to preside over the meeting of National Economic Council (NEC), through a video link, is nothing but compromising the national interest.

In a statement issued here, he said the way the prime minister is running the affairs of the government is quite worrisome as this never happens in any part of the world where a leader had ever looked after important matters of the country like this.

The decision of the prime minister to preside over an important meeting of the NEC- the supreme policy making body in the economic sphere – through a video link, according to PTI chairman, was not appropriate in any way as the government had to take important decisions about the financial issues of the country.

He expressed the fear that the spy agencies can get access to the important financial matters of the country as all important financial planning is discussed in the NEC meeting, adding the details of the meeting can easily be traced by the anti-Pakistan elements especially the spy agencies who are working against Pakistan.

“These are the things which are always kept as top secrets. The prime minister gives a go-ahead to annual budget of the country, and the way it’s being discussed through a video link reflects how PML-N is running the country,” he lamented.

He said the ruling government is repeatedly compromising national interest due to absence of the prime minister and his ‘secretive illness’.-Business Recorder
