WEB DESK: The journey to stardom is never easy. As rosy the world looks of a superstar, a few know the lows and failures, which an actor has been through before he climbs the ladder of success. In a recent brae-all interview with Filmfare, the superstar-in-making, Ranveer Singh spoke about the unknown side of his journey and his nature – a part which he deliberately keeps hidden from the world and fans.

Ranveer shared, “I have had some tough life experiences. It’s not all been rosy. I have been through prolonged intense and immense emotional turbulence, financial difficulties… I have been ridiculed, faced racism and humiliation. Hence, I believe in this quote: Be kind to whoever you meet because everyone’s fighting their own battle.”

On being asked if his happy-go-lucky persona is just a façade to hide the actor’s sensitive side, Ranveer said, “I believe it’s a Cancerian trait to be sensitive to the degree of it being unhealthy.

“To be emphatic and vulnerable to the degree, it can be detrimental. I will be difficult for me if I do not try to be happy and spread happiness. Being so sensitive isn’t good as it puts you at the mercy of the big bad world. I am an extremist, my feelings are also extreme.  So yes, you are right in saying it is a defence mechanism.

“Also, I have this need to be liked. I hide my intelligence because I feel it alienates people. Most times, I play the fool because ‘the fool’ is more likeable and relatable. I get criticised by people around me for hiding my intelligence. (Laughs) I am almost embarrassed of it.”

Ranveer, this certainly decodes the reason behind all your smiles, all the while.
