Government to examine letter: Shahbaz

WEB DESK: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Chief Justice’s reply in response to prime minister’s letter to him has been received, adding that the federal government will take further measures in the light of Supreme Court’s letter.

Addressing a function here on Friday, Shahbaz Sharif said “time has come for strict and indiscriminate accountability of corrupt elements, those who had got their loans waived off on political basis, indulged in loot of national resources, misappropriated funds through kickbacks.”

“Pakistan cannot make progress without indiscriminate accountability of corrupt elements; it is a historic opportunity to rid the country of poverty, ignorance, unemployment and problems and there is a need to benefit from it in the interest of the country,” Shahbaz added.

He said affluent classes will have to be brought into tax net for strengthening national economy and progress of the country.

Addressing a function regarding the second ballot for Amanat Scheme under restaurant invoice monitoring system of Punjab Revenue Authority, he said the Punjab government has introduced a unique Amanat Scheme for tax collection by monitoring restaurant invoice system. Under this system, taxpayers are being given prizes of billions of rupees through transparent ballot.”

Punjab government has launched the glorious project of restaurant invoice monitoring system and there should not be any doubt about the success of this project.

Shahbaz reiterated that federal and Punjab governments have made a saving of 215 billion rupees in development projects, which is unprecedented. Work is being carried out round-the-clock on the glorious project of Orange Line Metro Train. Exim Bank of China is funding this Rs 162 billion project and this loan is to be repaid in 20 years. – Business Recorder
