Cricket suffers in Pak due to one man show by selection committee

KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket is suffering a lot due selection committee of PCB which is nothing except one-man show.

Renowned Cricketer Javed Miandad said this while speaking on the occasion of prize distribution ceremony of Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) Dastoor Cricket Tournament held at Karachi Press Clubon Monday.

Team of Afghanistan is improving and showing better performance while the performance of Pakistan Cricket is worsening by each passing day, he said.

Holding selection committee responsible, he said that selection committee became one-man show where the players were being selected on the recommendation basis rather than merit and performance.

The recommendation culture should be eliminated to save the cricket where the cricket is seen but there is no player, he said.

There is need to start process of selection for players from union level, Taluka level and District level, he said while suggesting the selection committee to improve the cricket in the Pakistan.

“We should give priority to the interest of country ratherthan self interest,” he added.

Replying to a question, he said that he was not interested in politics but would support Imran Khan. Later, he distributed the trophies and prizes among winners of tournament where award of first position was given to Photographers Eleven, 2nd position award to Ajj TV and 3rd position award to Dawn TV.

Also present at the ceremony were the Secretary of Karachi Press Club AH Khanzada, the President of Karachi Union of Journalists (Dastoor) Afsar Imran and senior Journalists Agha Syed Karam Ali Shah, Shams Kerio and others.- APP
