Court indicts Dr Asim, six others in corruption case

KARACHI: Accountability court indicted Doctor Asim and six others in a corruption case of Rupees 462 billion, Aaj News reported.

During the hearing National accountability bureau prosecutor informed the court that in his tenure Dr Asim, former petroleum minister created artificial shortage of gas and gave false information to the council of common interest. As a result the price of urea rises from 850 rupees to 1,830 rupees.

The government provided a subsidy on urea import which caused Rupees 450 billion loss to national wealth.

NAB prosecutor further added that Dr Asim illegally acquired the land for the establishment of Zia Uddin Hospital.

However, Dr Asim denied all the allegations against him. He also said that he is being politically victimize.

Court has adjourned the hearing till May 14th.
