WEB DESK: Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) appointed Sarfaraz Ahmed new T20 captain replacing Shahid Afridi, Aaj News reported.
Earlier, Ex-coach Waqar Younis apologized to the nation after Pakistan’s early exit from WT20 in a press conference, without missing a beat, former captain Shahid Afridi apologized through a video message for team’s poor performance in Asia Cup and World T20.
After five-member fact finding team submitted its report to the cricket board, rumors of report ‘leak’ started to circulate bringing Younis under hot waters for going public regarding internal matters.
According to PCB, Younis breached the code of conduct by giving a press conference in media alongside parliamentarian Riaz Pirzada causing PCB to threaten the former coach with a show cause notice.
Younis finally resigned from his post yesterday whereas Afridi made resignation announcements two days before through Twitter.
Team Manager Intikhab Alam accused Afridi and Younis of incompetency in his report. Haroon Rashid resigns as chief selector but remains in the cricket arena through other designations. Rasheed came in for criticism in the post-World T20 report submitted by Waqar Younis.
Former captain Afridi supported PCB’s decision through twitter, “Good decision to see
@SarfarazA_54 leading PAK T-20 he is energetic, passionate and a fighter!”, he tweeted.
