WEB DESK: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday called on President Mamnoon Hussain and discussed with the latter overall prevailing political situation. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in a one-on-one meeting, reiterated his resolve to complete all mega projects by 2018 and overcome the power crisis during his tenure.
They discussed situation in the country including the pace of development projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), ongoing energy projects, the law and order situation and revitalisation of national economy and the operation Zarb-e-Azb.
Nawaz Sharif briefed the President on policies and decisions of the government on various issues. They resolved that the government will not be distracted from its agenda of progress and will vigorously pursue to complete development projects to usher in prosperity in the country and improve standard of living of the people.
The President highly praised Nawaz Sharif and his economic team for “reviving the national economy through sound policy initiatives.” The government has ensured transparency and judicious use of public money while implementing various development projects and has followed zero tolerance policy for corruption.
They also reviewed the progress of the Zarb-e-Azb operation and expressed satisfaction at the successes achieved and reaffirmed that the operation would continue till elimination of the last terrorist from the country. The two leaders lauded the immense sacrifices rendered by the armed forces and law enforcement personnel in fight against terrorism and extremism. It was resolved that the National Action Plan will be implemented in all areas of the country to restore complete peace. They reviewed the regional situation and reiterated Pakistan’s desire to have friendly relations with all the neighbouring countries for peace and prosperity in the region.
