Islamabad: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan rejected speculations that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s London visit has anything to do with the Panama papers scandal.
Talking to a press conference here on Wednesday, Nisar said the prime minister was facing medical issues from last two, three months and he went to London for his medical treatment.
Nisar told reporters that it was he who advised the premier to go abroad for medical treatment.”Before that the doctors had advised him three day rest”.
The interior minister urged the opposition to stop media trail of the government over the scandal.” Off-shore accounts matter is related to the premier’s family and only they are answerable”.
He said the prime minister in his address to the nation announced forming a commission to investigate the scandal and the government had tried to reach some former judges to head the commission.“ But the former judges, backed out after seeing political mudslinging on the issue”.
He said that the government is now contacting other judges for the responsibility.
