KAKUL: President Mamnoon Hussain on Saturday said Paksitan would further strengthen its defence capabilities along efforts for peaceful resolution of disputes.
“Pakistan’s defence capabilities would ensure peace and prosperity in the region,” he said while addressing passing out parade 52nd integrated course and 6th Mujahid course at Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul. Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif was also present on the occasion.
He said Pakistan desired to have cordial and friendly relations with all its neighbours. However, foreign interference and nuclear and conventional arms race in the region, designed to destabilize Pakistan, could be ignored.
The president said resolution of all disputes including Kashmir was essential for durable peace in the region. He said Pakistan craved resolution of all contentious issues through dialogue in the spirit of peaceful coexistence.
He declared that Pakistani armed forces were fully alive to challenges accruing in changing global scenario. All needs of the armed forces would be fulfilled to enable them meet the internal and external threats.
Referring to the ongoing operation Zarb-e Azb, the president said the extraordinary spirit of sacrifice of army officers and Jawans during the long unconventional war had started bringing dividends.
The president said the political leadership had adopted a National Action Plan with consensus to surmount this challenge. The armed forces and other state organs have performed admirably by thwarting the nefarious designs of the terrorists.
He expressed satisfaction that the international community acknowledges Pakistan’s sacrifices in the war on terrorism. He reiterated that operation Zarb-e-Azb would continue until the elimination of last terrorist.
Mamnoon Hussain described Pakistan Army as the best in the world whose personnel were always ready to serve the country selflessly.
He assured that the nation would fully stand by the armed forces in their quest to overcome challenges and hold the national flag higher.
