Our very own handsome hunk Fawad Khan received heaps of praises for his latest film, Kapoor and Sons, where in he essayed the role of a gay man brilliantly. Though he looked confident on screen and carried out his role in the best possible way , the actor was very nervous about playing such a character.
In an interview with Filmfare, director Shakun Batra revealed this behind the scenes secret of the film and said that both he and Fawad were concerned about reactions to his character.
“There were a lot of jokes between Fawad and me about his homosexual character. I used to say, ‘Bro! Your career is over. People are going to f****ng hate you. You have a female fan following, that will just run away’. We used to laugh and use the humour to cover up our nervousness.”
But fortunately their speculations about people’s reactions proved wrong as Fawad’s role was heavily praised by both the critics and the audiences.
Batra says he was glad to discover that “People won’t just pay for stupid entertainment; they’ll also pay to connect with a story and its characters.”
