A budding Indian film producer, who was reportedly dejected over how his debut production had shaped up, committed suicide at his residence in the Indian state of Kerala on Saturday (April 24).
According to a report in The New Indian Express, the Malyalam film producer Ajay Krishnan killed himself after watching a preview of his upcoming film, Avarude Ravukal.
Quoting an unnamed police source, the report said, “He was concerned over the success of the film at the box office. He had also shared his concern with his parents. It seems that the film cost him Rs 4 crore and he was facing financial crisis. This might have forced him to take the extreme step.”
The report also added that Ajay’s parents were present in the house at the time of the incident.
Ajay’s film was penned and directed by Shanil Muhammad, who co-directed Philips and the Monkey Pen.
He had earlier essayed several small roles in TV serials and movies.
