WEB DESK: Pakistan’s former foreign minister Hina Rabbani Khar’s sense of style was often appreciated and even made into headlines but to our ultimate surprise the minister’s style went on to inspire Bollywood celebs as well.
Bollywood actor Divya Dutt has confirmed that she is channeling Khar in her upcoming movie Irada.
“Although it wasn’t deliberate, the look is really attractive and yes, has similarities to the way Hina dressed and conducted herself,” Times of India quoted Dutt as saying.
The actor went on to say that she received a lot of positive feedback for her look which is reminiscent of Khar. “When I landed on set in the getup many commented on how I looked like Hina and we decided to keep the look since the reactions were so positive.”
Khar, who served in the government as Foreign Minister from 2011 to 2013, was noted for her sense of style, particularly when she made her first visit to India in 2011.
“Pak Puts On Its Best Face,” noted The Times of India, the biggest-selling English-language daily, while mass circulation Hindi newspaper Navbharat Times said India was “sweating over model-like minister.”
To date, Khar is remembered as one of the most fashionable female politicians in Pakistan.
Irada is a thriller that also features Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi.
Divya plays an Indian politician, Ramandeep, and explains that her character is a Punjabi woman of grit and determination who is alternatively loud and subtle.
“It didn’t require much prep because the directors Aparna Singh and Nishant Tripathi, knew exactly what they wanted. I simply followed their vision,” she said.
