MULTAN: Federal Minister for Religious Affair and Inter-faith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said on Saturday that a tracker system would be introduced for pilgrims to ensure their connection with the control room during Haj.
Talking to the media here at the Multan International Airport, he said the tracker system would be introduced by keeping in view the stamped occurred during Haj in the previous year.
He said the ministry of religious affairs had completed work on Haj policy and the prime minister had given approval of it. He added the new Haj policy would be announced on April 17 in Islamabad.
He said 270,000 applications had been received in the last year out of which 71,000 pilgrims were selected through a draw on the government quota.
He said the provincial assemblies of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had submitted applications to the government to make all arrangements after better arrangements made by the government in the previous year 2014-15.
He added according to rules of Saudi Arabia, it was compulsory to accommodate private firms in Haj quota.
The minister said the incumbent government had given relief to pilgrims as the Haj package had been decreased to Rs 250,000 which was less as compare to the previous years.
He said there was difference of about Rs 10,000 in fare of northern and south areas.
Sardar Yousaf said the government was striving hard to ensure Azan and prayer at the same time across the country and the policy had been implemented in the capital.
He added chief ministers of all provinces had been asked to constitute committees to decide the same time of Azan and prayers after consultation with Ulemas.
He said Quran Board was being set up at federal level to make arrangements for saving pages of the Holy Quran and other religious material.
He said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif went abroad for a medical check-up and he would come back soon as he was an elected prime minister of the country.
He said Dharna party had wasted four months of the country and created hurdles in progress of the country too.
