ISLAMABAD: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Tuesday outrightly rejected Protection of Women Against Violence acts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and asked the government to prepare fresh bills incorporating Islamic injunctions.
Talking to reporters, after chairing a two-day meeting of CII, chairman Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani said the council would itself prepare draft Protection of Women Against Violence Bill on failure of the government to prepare the bill.
He said the CII had prepared a draft bill of thwarting torture on Children. It has been ensured in the bill that the rights of children must be protected right from his birth to attaining puberty.
He said the council had the right to advise the government for implementing Islamic laws.
The proceedings of CII would be sent to the government in future.
CII was not a court but has the right to issue decrees on various important issues.
The meeting has recommended to constitute an international desks in the council.
He asked detractors of CII to move a constitutional bill in the Parliament for curtailing powers of CII.
