RAJANPUR: Ghulam Rasool alias Chotoo has surrendered along his accomplices after successful strategic operation carried out by Pakistan Army bore fruits, Aaj News reported.
Police had been conducting abortive operation against the gang for 21 days. However, Army had to take charge to bring the operation to conclusive end.
According to Aaj News, the news could not be yet confirmed by military or paramilitary officials, however well-placed police sources have claimed that Chotoo Gang has surrendered and released all the captives.
Army cut off supply line of Chotoo Gang for four days after taking charge of the operation and started heavy operation, Zarb-e-Ahan, in the riverine area by imposing curfew.
Pakistan Army soldiers and rangers had surrounded the areas of Kachchiya Somniyani, Kachchiya Moru, Kachchiya Jamal and Kachcha Bangla. Pakistan Army shelled Chottu Island through gunship helicopters.
Chotoo Gang had been spreading terror among residents of the nearby areas for decades.
