QUETTA: Inspector General, Frontier Corps Balochistan, Maj-General. Sher Afgun has said that security situation has been improved in Balochistan after targeted operations were carried out in different parts of the province.
He was talking to senior journalists at FC Headquarters, here in Quetta.
He said, “The enemy was traced out and defeated due to good interaction and cooperation of masses with security forces which resulted in improvement in law and order situation,” adding that “now operation is only carried out where it was needed.”
He said that peace has been restored and now there is no ‘No Go Areas’ in Balochistan.
“Credit goes to all including security forces and masses to defeat terrorists and to achieve goal of restoration of peace in Balochistan,” he said.
He said that FC played important role in controlling smuggling, due to which revenue of Custom had been increased by 300 percent.
He said that in past, militants organizations used to take extortion from coalmines owners, adding that but after the deployment of FC, the coalmines owners had rid of menace of extortion.
He said that FC has been running several projects pertaining to education and health.
“Around 15000 students were enrolled at FC schools and colleges in different parts of Balochistan while FC doctors and medical teams medically examined and provide free of cost medicines to about 47000 patients in the province during last 15 years,” he said.
He said that FC would form an anti-encroachment cell to take action against land mafia.
“Government and other lands will be cleared of land mafia,” he said.
He said that Indian spy agency, RAW and Afghan intelligence agency were involved in militancy and terrorism in Balochistan.
“Indian consulates in Afghanistan are involved in random acts of terror in Balochistan,” he said.
