WT20: India collapse against Santner brunt


WEB DESK: New Zealand beat host India by 47 runs in the opening thriller match of ICC World Cup T20 Super 10 at Nagpur on Tuesday.

New Zealand maintained their record as India remained winless in T20 internationals against New Zealand, having lost five in five.

New Zealand Spinner Santner demolished self-considered iron wall batting line-up of India.

Santer took 4 wickets and gave only 11 runs in 4 overs, whearas Indian skipper MS Dhoni fighting till the end scored 30 runs in vain.

Man of the Match was awarded to Mitchell Santner for his match-winning performance, while talking to the presentation ceremony , he said, “There was a bit of spin out there, they bowled well to keep us to 120, that was below par, but we got stuck in and I;m delighted with the win. Jadeja was really spinning it, starting was hard ..trying to get to 130 140 but in the end 126 proved to be enough.”

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. While batting at first Kiwi’s lost their 2 wickets at the score of 13.

Then in the whole match Kiwi’s played under pressure but Corey Anderson played some good cricket in tough situation and scored 33 off 40 Balls. Set 127 runs target for India
