Sonam keen to do more women centric films after ‘Neerja’

WEB DESK: After bagging awards for her recent release “Neerja”, Bollywood starlet Sonam Kapoor hinted at working once again in a woman centric film, PTI reported.

In Neerja, Sonam played the role of an Indian slain flight attendant Neerja Bhanot who died saving hundreds of passengers on a hijacked flight Pan Am in 1986.

Sonam’s acting in Neerja received heaps of praise from all quarters. Neerja was lauded equally by both the critics and the audience.

While talking at the sidelines of an event ‘Women of Worth Awards’, Sonam revealed that she will soon be seen in another women centric role soon but did not disclose any further details of her next project.

She said, “I will announce something soon. I can’t talk about it.”

When asked if she would also like to play historic female heroes, Sonam said, “You see it. Hopefully I would like to play something like that.”

The 30-year-old actress also acknowledged the active role of many Indian women who helped build the nation but rued that unsung heroes like Neerja Bhanot got lost in history.

“There are lot of Indian woman who have been modern heroes who have helped in building a better India. There are lot of Indian women in the history you look at like Mother Teresa, Sarojini Naidu, Lata Mangeshkar and others,” she said.

“There are women who got lost in the page of history like Neerja Bhanot and it is sad. There is a wider variety of women that we are looking at and the more innovative things that they are doing which are cultural and scientific breakthroughs and artistic as well,” Sonam said.

Aishwariya Rai and Katrina Kaif were also present at the occassion to distribute awards along with Sonam.
