Shahbaz Taseer was released by captors on their own: inquiry reveals

ISLAMABAD: An inquiry report submitted to the Interior Minister on Saturday revealed that Shahbaz Taseer, son of former Punjab Governor Salman Taseer, was released by his captors on their own and he was not recovered in any operation.

As per facts and evidences, the report said Shahbaz was not recovered as a result of any operation rather the kidnappers released him themselves.

However, it would be premature to say that whether Shahbaz was released after getting the ransom money or without it, the report said.

According to the Ministry of Interior sources, the report said that nobody had the right to take credit of Shahbaz’s return, recommending strict warning to the officials concerned.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on March 9 had formed a high-level committee, led by the Special Secretary Interior, to hold an inquiry into the reports that Shahbaz Taseer was recovered through an operation.
