WEB DESK: Pakistan women team captain Sana Mir, Allrounder Bismah Maroof and bowler Anam Amin reached the top 10 ICC Players ranking on Tuesday.
They are ranked among top 10 players in five out of six categories. 24-year-old Bismah Maroof has been ranked in three categories. She is ranked at number ninth, eighth and ninth in ODI Allrounders, T20 batting and T20 allrounders respectively.
Maroof played tremendously against Bangladesh struck five fours in her 43 after coming to bat at No. 3. Pakistan beat Bangladesh by nine wickets with three over left to play.
Maroof wasn’t even sure if she wanted to play cricket, for academics was her “kind of thing” until she watched a Saeed Anwar cover drive as a 10-year old. At 15, she made the national team, she said while talking to ESPN after match victory against India.
Veteran Sana Mir has been ranked in two categories, ODI allrounder and ODI Bowling at number nine.
Mir, the captain, was told by her parents: “There are way too many doctors and engineers in Pakistan, do something different.” Drawing inspiration from the 1992 triumph, she did and has been the undisputed leader for the last seven years, ESPN adds.
Surprisingly, after two player of the match trophies, 24-year-old left arm spinner Anam Amin settles at third rank in T20 bowling, according to ESPN Cricinfo.
With as much dot balls she could’ve delivered, Amin was ranked in the list of player of the week in the first week of WT20 by ESPN.
