Raheel Sharif says operation Zarb-e-Azb in its last stages


RAWALPINDI: Operation Zarb-e-Azb is in its last stages. Attention should be paid towards rehabilitation after operation in tribal areas, said Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif on Monday.

“Terrorists network should be removed from all over the country. Intelligence operation should be expedited against terrorists,” he said while addressing Corps Commanders conference in Rawalpindi.

The COAS said that as Army was moving towards conclusion of the large scale kinetic operation in FATA, there was need to look ahead and consolidate gains for long term stability. He stressed escalated pace of IBOs across country to eliminate entire terrorism infrastructure in Pakistan.

He said all out steps would be taken to return displaced people home. Temporary Displaced Persons return must complete per laid down timeline.

Raheel Sharif directed more efforts for border management and continued dominance of cleared areas to maintain writ of the state.

Participants of the conference also took holistic view of the emerging geo-strategic environment and its relevance to security of Pakistan.

Speaking at the forum, the Army Chief expressed his complete satisfaction over the progress of ongoing operation in Shawal and adjoining areas in North Waziristan Agency.
