President meets troops in Wana

WANA: President Mamnoon Hussain met with the troops at Wana in South Waziristan on Monday.    

On the occasion, he was given briefing on the situation in tribal areas.

He was accompanied by Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and other senior military and civil officials.

The president will also visit cadet college Wana.

Condemning recent terrorists’ attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said terrorists have no religion but they are enemy of humanity.

The President said Operation Zarb-e-Azb was initiated as per the spirit of Islam as terrorism is a curse and the operation was launched to wipe out the menace from its roots.

He emphasized upon the Army troops to take stringent measures for saving their future generation from terrorists. He said the nation has full confidence in Pakistan Army.

About Temporary Displaced Persons (TDPs), the President said they are being compensated and being repatriated to their native areas in a dignified manner. He said the civil administration in the tribal areas has been reactivated and for this purpose locals are being inducted in Levis force so that the terrorists may not regroup.

About China Pakistan Economic Corridor, he said it is a mega project it would change the destiny of the country in general and all the provinces and FATA will benefit from it.

Referring to energy projects, he said the issue of load-shedding would be controlled to a great extent by 2018 on completion of the different power projects.

Later, the President visited Wana Cadet College and inspected its various sections where he announced a grant of five million rupees for the college.

The President was informed that presently there are 333 cadets who are obtaining education from the college with 70 percent from FATA.

The President in his brief remarks said education is imperative to remove all backwardness from the country and emphasized upon the students to concentrate on their education.

Earlier, General Officer Commanding Maj Gen. Khalid Javed gave a detailed briefing to the president on security situation in the tribal region.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and high-ranking officials of the civil and military administrations received the President upon arrival.

This was first ever visit of any President of Pakistan to South Waziristan Agency since the operation was initiated against terrorists in the area.
