Pope Francis will visit Pakistan this year


WEB DESK: Pope Francis has accepted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s invitation to visit Pakistan this year, according to a message received here from the Vatican, Times reported.

The invitation was extended by Ports and Shipping Minister Kamran Michael and Religious Affairs Minister Sardar Yusuf.

Christians make up about 1.6% of Muslim-majority Pakistan’s population, and have been targeted in the past, particularly under the country’s controversial blasphemy laws.
