New IGP Sindh assumes charge

KARACHI: The new Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, A.D. Khawaja, assumed charge on Monday.

He was also presented with the guard of honour, a police spokesman said.

The new IGP issued directives to the officers and staff that corruption and irregularities would not be tolerated at any cost.

He made it clear that the policemen sponsoring crimes would not be spared.

The IGP also directed the police personnel not to accept any pressure and focus their attention on curbing crimes.

He also presided a meeting at the Centeral Police Office (CPO) here and issued directives that the professional duties be performed in accordance with the rules and regulations.

A.D. Khawaja was of the view that for enhancing the performance of the Police department, it is necessary that a people-friendly atmosphere be fostered at every level.

It was decided at the meeting that there was no place in the department for those policemen who were shunted out for registration of criminal cases or their involvement in crimes.

A.D. Khawaja also directed that administrative and financial matters in police be made transparent.

He instructed DIG Establishment that pending matters of promotions be disposed of in accordance with the rules and regulations.

Payments should be made promptly to the heirs of the policemen who sacrificed their lives in line of duty.
