KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders have refuted the allegations made by former MQM leader and Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal calling them baseless and absurd in a press conference on Thursday.
MQM Rabita Committee Convener Nadeem Nusrat has categorically rejected allegations on the party. He directed all the party workers to remain united. Nusrat said MQM would rise stronger.
the allegations of MQM’s links with Indian secret agency RAW and other such allegations were not new. They had confronted the same in 1992 as well.
“Attempts of creating divisions within MQM are not new to MQM. It has been done earlier as well. History has witnessed such balloons were inflated before in vain,” he said.
He said elected candidates were facing judicial trials while unelected member were doing press conference. Media should not run such press conference unless they allow Altaf Hussain to clarify the allegations against him.
“MQM is a big party and accusing it was dismal. If people of Karachi and Hyderabad etc support MQM it means they supported it deliberately and they being educated and intellectual knew that allegations were not true.
He blamed the establishment for not trying to bring MQM into mainstream.
MQM senior leader Farooq Sattar said the workers had confidence in Altaf Hussain and they still had faith in his leadership and would always have.
Sattar noted the timing of launch of the ‘pawn’. “These baseless allegations are nothing new. All such conspiracies against Altaf Hussain in the past and the same would be the fate of this one also.”
“It is aimed at crushing MQM and to shatter the unity of Mohajirs, but above all, its purpose is to realize minus-Altaf formula,” he said.
