ISLAMABAD: Former captain Javed Miandad has urged Pakistan to play as a unit to beat Australia in their group match of the ongoing T20 World Cup.
Pakistan need to beat Australia in Friday’s match at Mohali. Then, they may still have a chance to make it to the semifinal if Australia defeat India convincingly on a net run rate in last match of group 2 on Sunday.
“For God’s sake express some nationalism. You are all Pakistanis. Give up your personal interests and play for the sake of your country,” Miandad said while talking to a private TV channel.
The former batting great asked the players to forget about all other things stating, “Your responsibility is Pakistan and Pakistan team.”
He said that the players, who did not fulfill their responsibilities, had no right to stay in the circle. “You don’t look me Pakistanis as you are running after your own interests.”
