Maker of cricket in India is Gavaskar: Miandad

WEB DESK: Former skipper and legendary batsman Javed Miandad on Friday said former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar was the maker of cricket in India and people of Kolkata were the true lover of cricket.

“India vs Pakistan cricket match is always a pressure game,” he said while speaking during an intriguing discussion on India vs Pakistan match with Sunil Gavaskar at Aaj Tv program ‘Spot Light with Munizae Jahangir’.

Miandad said players should avoid all the useless things during the tournament through which Pakistan may face shame in the world.

Responding on the issue of criticizing Shahid Afridi, he said, “Who is Javed Miandad (without Pakistan)? People know Miandad because of Pakistan. I only want to ask skipper Shahid Afridi how he got that much love from Indians in just 2 days.”

Sunil Gavaskar said, “I salute Javed Miandad. He is my beloved friend. Moreover, Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram, Imran Khan and Rameez Raja we all are good friend. We were rivals against each other during game only and not off-field.”

He also said after losing against new Zealand, India were under-pressure.

Gavaskar said people of both the nations loved cricket. They just wanted to watch cricket independent from boundaries.

He said at the age of 10 he saw Pakistani player Hanif Mohammad who inspired him a lot. He was a great batsman.
