Indian state put on high alert viewing possible terror attack

WEB DESK: The Indian state of Gujarat has been put on high alert after Pakistan reportedly provided intelligence information of possible infiltration of 10 terrorists ahead of ‘Maha Shivratri’ festival on Monday, local media reported on Sunday.

Local media said security agencies have been placed on high alert after Pakistan’s National Security Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Nasir Khan Janjua talked to his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval.

Four National Security Guard teams have been roped in to beef up security at vital installations, including Somnath temple.

The leave of all police personnel, including officers, has been cancelled and the state government has increased security at all the main temples of the state for ‘Maha Shivaratri’ festival tomorrow.

Additional chief security of Gujrat has summoned a meeting of different departments including police officers, coast guards and BSF.
