WEB DESK: Due to security concerns, BCCI changes the venue of India-Pakistan match from Dharamshala, Aaj News reported.
Pakistan will play its warm up match as per schedule. The Associated Press on Wednesday that the ICC had been asked to consider Kolkata or Mohali as alternate venues for the March 19 match against the tournament hosts.
Pakistan demanded a writing confirmation from Indian government about ensuring the security for the team and Pakistani spectators who will attend the matches.
The three-men security team handed over to Interior Minister Chaudary Nisar Ali Khan and Pakistan Cricket Board. The decision has been taken that the Pakistan team would not travel to India on Wednesday as per schedule.
PCB had stopped their men’s and women’s team from travelling to India for the World Twenty20 over security concerns.
Pakistan are due to play their opening match against a first-round qualifier in Kolkata on March 16.
Last week state chief minister Virbhadra Singh caused a stir by refusing to provide security for the game, prompting the PCB to demand the match be shifted to a new venue.
