Guptill blitz drives Kiwis to victory against Pakistan

WEBDESK: New Zealand beat Pakistan by 22 runs in the match Super10 ICC Twenty20 World Cup at Mohali on Tuesday.

Pakistan’s chances for semi-finals have almost diminished after losing against New Zealand.  No Pakistan player played responsible inning except Sharjeel Khan. Sharjeel Khan played blazing inning  along Ahmed Shehzad.

Sharjeel Khan hit nine 4s and one 6 to score 47 runs off 25 balls while Ahmed Shehzad added 30 off 32 balls for Pakistan.

Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi again promoted his batting order but he could manage to score only 19 runs.

All the credit goes to NZ bowlers, they did a good come back and created hurdle for Pakistan till the end.

The question arises here that how could Umer Akmal and Shoaib Malik not hit a single boundary despite facing 39 balls?

Earlier New Zealand won the toss and selected bat first,  Martin Guptill smashed 80 runs off 48 balls. Martin Guptill played an outstanding inning. He played in all direction, in the course to help New Zealand set match winning target of 180 runs.

Ross Taylor made 36 while corey Anderson added 21 in 181 runs target.

While Mohammad Sami took 2 wickets and bowled very economically and gave only 23 runs in 4 overs.

Martin Guptill awarded as the Man of the Match for his out-standing innings.
