Govt committed for equal rights of all communities: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has reiterated that the government is committed to ensure that all the communities in Pakistan enjoy equal rights irrespective of their beliefs.

“My government is committed to safeguard the fundamental rights, safety, honour, life and property of all minority communities in the country,” the Prime Minister said in a message on Easter being celebrated across the globe and in Pakistan by the Christian community on March 27.

The Prime Minister felicitated the Christians all over the world and particularly the Christian community in Pakistan on celebrating Easter with joy and brotherhood and conveyed his sincere and best wishes on festivities of the occasion.

He said “We are determined to work for the uplift and welfare of all minorities so that they can contribute to the progress and development of the country like their Muslim brethren,”

“Easter reinforces the spirit of mutual respect among us and is a reminder of the teachings of Jesus Christ, one of the great Messengers of Allah,” he added.

He said the Father of nation unequivocally declared a policy of equality, freedom and security for all communities living in Pakistan, irrespective of their religion, profession and ethnic origin.

The Prime Minister said the diversity of faiths was a source of strength and enrichment for our nation.

“In these times, the need for unity and interfaith harmony has assumed paramount importance.

I am optimistic that with combined efforts and collective resolve we will defeat the forces of discord that are trying to cause serious harm to the fabric of our society,” he added.
