Ebad stresses need to improve police stations’ environment

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan has directed police authorities to improve the environment of police stations so that people do not feel hesitated to lodge their complaints, as it will strengthen public confidence in police.

He stated this during his visit to Saddar and Aziz Bhatti police stations along with Sindh Home Minister Sohail Siyal and Additional IG Karachi Mushtaq Mehar.

The Governor stressed the need for effective vigilance and coordinated system to eradicate crimes. He urged that intelligence system should be further strengthened to curb crimes.

Dr. Ishratul Ebad informed that community policing system is being introduced in order to check street crimes effectively.

He said that besides Rangers and other institutions, police have also played an important role in Karachi operation, and for these efforts people are thankful to them.

The Governor said that under the National Action Plan the operation is successfully going on in the metropolis against terrorists, extortionists, target killers and kidnapping for ransom suspects, adding that the action will continue till its logical end without succumbing to any pressure.

Talking to journalists on the occasion, he said that the purpose to visit police stations was to personally review the situation in police stations so that their performance and availability of resources could be assessed.

Answering a question, he said that after improvement in law and order situation, especial attention is being paid on development activities and on improvement in the system of police stations.

Talking to the media, Home Minister Sohail Siyal said that the project to computerize police stations is being activated. The minister said that he will continue to make surprise visits to police stations to review their performance.

He thanked the Governor Sindh for paying the visit to police stations.
