Cricket unites Pakistani nation: Rashid Latif

ISLAMABAD: Former captain and wicketkeeper Rashid Latif has said that the game of cricket unites the Pakistani nation and also helps in making relations better with other countries.

Rashid said this while inaugurating the four-day tournament being organized by Rawalpindi Dawoodi Bohra community to celebrate 105th birthday of their spiritual leader late Dr. Syedna Mohammad Burhanuddin at the Ayub Park Cricket Ground.

He said cricket is one sport which unites our nation. “I am delighted to see that teams from my own city Karachi participating in this tournament,” Latif said.

Latif said it was an honour for him to grace the occasion and hoped such healthy sporting activities will benefit the young generation of the community.

On the occasion, Janab Juzar Bhai Saheb, president of Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat Rawalpindi, thanked Latif for inaugurating the tournament and presented a customary shawl and a shield to the celebrated Pakistani cricketer.

In the tournament, top four teams will qualify for the semifinal and final which will be played on Sunday.

Cuurently AMB Avengers top the table with four points followed by Burhani Bionics (four points), Taheri Tigers (two points), Rawalpindi Royals (two points), Fakhri Falcons (two points) and Saleh Strikers (two points).
