Chairman PCB hopeful of security clearance

LAHORE: Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board, Shaharyar M Khan has said the International Cricket Council and PCB are in constant contact and he was hopeful that the security assurance would be given to Pak team for its participation in the World T20 Cup.

He was addressing the Pakistan national team here on Thursday at National Cricket Board. He briefed the players on the security situation in India.

“We (PCB and ICC) are maintaining coordination and the necessary information pertaining to the security situation will be furnished to the interior ministry of Government of Pakistan for their further directions in this regard,” he asserted.

DAPCB Chief appraised the team that the decision to visit India would be taken by the government.

“In case, the government allows travel to India, the team should focus on the game and demonstrate a high level of discipline and commitment, he added.

He backed the players to do well on and off the field, as they were the ambassadors of the country and the public had great expectation from them.

1On this occasion, Intikhab Alam, Team Manager, thanked the Chairman PCB for the confidence he showed upon the players. He reassured that there would be no compromise on discipline and the players were looking forward to perform and fulfill the expectations of public back home.

2He reiterated, even though team Pakistan was in the strong group compromising Australia, New Zealand, host India and a qualifying team, it would give them courage to perform well in the World T-20.
