ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday said CASA-1000 project would be a milestone in boosting relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
“Pakistan is looking forward to the opening ceremony of the CASA-1000 project in May 2016,” he said while talking to Tajikistan Parliamentary delegation headed by Chairman Majlisi Namoyandagon of Tajikistan Zuhurov Shukurjon in Islamabad.
He stressed that peace in Afghanistan was necessary for peace, security and stability in Pakistan and the region.
Mamnoon said that Pakistan was sincerely pursuing the vision of a peaceful neighbourhood and desired to have friendly relations with all its neighbours, including India. He emphasized that resolution of the Kashmir issue was essential for improvement in ties with India.
Talking to a delegation of International Federation of Red Cross in Islamabad, Mamnoon Hussain said Pakistan had suffered heavily due to the conflict in Afghanistan.
He said rehabilitation activities on large scale are needed to improve the situation in the country.
The president admired the humanitarian work of IFRC and Pakistan Red Crescent Society in the service of the needy.
