Artist Uses Her Hijab To Shatter Disney Princess Stereotypes

WEB DESK: Growing up, Disney has given us unrealistic expectations of beauty. With hair that never seem to dampen to the flawless gowns and the voice of a nightingale, everything seemed to be perfect for them.

But the perspective was a bit changed when a Malaysian make up artist ,Saraswati, used her hijab to portray the princesses and other characters.

disney-princessSaraswati, used abundant amount of make up and various colored hijabs to showcase that the beauty can be depicted with the veil covering the hair, otherwise shown as one of the most important characteristics of any Disney princess.


She starts off with Ariel, the little mermaid when she uses make up and a red scarf to show the trademark Ariel hair.

arielIn this picture, she is dressed up as Jasmine from Aladdin. She uses similar jewellery and a black veil to show the similar aspects.

jasmineThe resemblance in this image is uncanny to the princess Mulan from Mulan. From the same colored costumes to the exact same make up and head band, Saraswati definitely did a remarkable job.

Here she is dressed up as Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmations. Quite remarkably, too.
