KARACHI: Opener Ahmed Shahzad is recalled to 15-member squad for the ICC World T20 Cricket Tournament to be played at various cities in India from March 8 to April 3, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced here on Monday.
Dynamic opener southpaw opener Sharjeel Khan, who was earlier axed was retained in the team. Chairman, PCB, Shaharyar Mohammad Khan has approved the squad on the recommendation of National Selection Committee headed by Haroon Rashid, the board said.
“While picking the squad, the team management and skipper were consulted by the selectors, and all concerned gave their consent in this regard.
“The T20 team has been selected keeping in mind the conditions during the World T20 in India. The team is a fine blend of experience and youth and the selectors believe that team will do well in the mega event”, Haroon Rashid quoted as saying.
Fast bowler Muhammad Sami was also retained in the squad. However, like for the Asia Cup, Pakistan team will be without any specialist spinner. Squad: Shahid Afridi (Captain), Sarfraz Ahmed (Vice Captain/wicketkeeper) Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, Umer Akmal, Ahmed Shehzad, Sharjeel Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Immad Wasim, Anwar Ali, Mohammad Irfan Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Sami and Khalid Latif.
