West Indies beat India to claim U-19 World Cup title

WEB DESK: West Indies Under-19 defeated India Under-19 by five wickets and secured the maiden Under-19 World Cup title at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday.

West Indies won the toss and put India to bat first on pacers’ paradise.

Batting first, India struggled to score and lost their 3 wickets at the score of 34 after 10 overs. At the score of 100 runs they were 6 down.

India all out on 45.1 overs at the score of 145 runs. Only and once again Sarfaraz Khan showed his class and made 51 runs in 145 balls. He has now scored the most half-centuries in U-19 world cup with 7 fifties. Ryan John and Alzarri Joseph took 3 wickets each for West Indies.

celeIn reply, Mayank Dagar bowled a brilliant spell and took 3 early wickets for India. West Indies lost their 5 wickets at the score of 77 runs. At that stage, the match looked balanced for both teams but Keacy Carty and Keemo Paul made 69 runs partnership and won the first ever U-19 World Cup final for West Indies.

Man of the match goes to Keacy Carty for his unbeaten 52 runs in 163 balls.

Man of the tournament award goes to Mehedi Hasan Miraz from Bangladesh who scored 242 runs and took 12 wickets.
